Task Description : Develop a training course and make relevant training material available to enhance mariners understanding of marine aids to navigation (AtoN) and to facilitate the effective use thereof. IALA contribute to revise the STCW and relevant Model Courses.
Objectives of the task :

Develop a training course and make relevant training material available to enhance mariners’ understanding of marine aids to navigation (AtoN) and to facilitate the effective use thereof. IALA Model Course and IMO submission and IALA Secretariat representation at IMO HTW sub-committee session 10 onwards.

Approved by Council. IALA rep will attend STCW session at IMO in October. Develop a method to better communicate with all committees.

Although IMO decided not to include the proposal, they did agree to include “electronic marks” in the training matrix of the STCW. Intersessional work to potentially send an input paper to HTW in Feb 2025.
