The draft Guideline on on “MF R-Mode signal structure and navigation message” was further developed intersessional and provided a mature input to ENG18.
The draft guideline on “MF R-Mode signal structure and navigation message” was reviewed and amended during the meeting and a final version was generated which should become an output of ENG-18. The committee thanks the task group for their effort they spend to developing the guideline.
During drafting the Guideline, it was recognised that the term Ranging Mode (R-Mode) and differential R-Mode (DR-Mode) are not part of the IALA Dictionary. The WG developed a proposal for definitions of both terms. Furthermore, the WG propose to amend the definition of “Differential system” in the IALA dictionary to reflect latest technology developments.
Action item:

  • The Secretariat is requested to forward “MF R-Mode signal structure and navigation message” to Council for approval.
  • The Secretariat is requested to forward “ENG18-13.2.2 Proposal for new IALA Dictionary definitions related to R-Mode” to Council for approval.

In a brainstorming session new work items were identified for this task group.

The Guideline G1158 VDES R-Mode was discussed, and no changes are proposed.

Output:

The Guideline on “MF R-Mode signal structure and navigation message” and the forwarding of “Guideline G1158

VDES-R mode” to Council.
